Our Editors’ Favorite Bikes from 2024 MADE Show – Bicycling.com

Bicycling’s Test Team attended the MADE Bike Show in Portland, Oregon—These are the best we saw!

By Tara Seplavy, Matt Phillips and Trevor Raab

We’re big fans of custom bicycles and we know you are too! Deputy Editor Tara Seplavy, Senior Test Editor Matt Phillips, and Senior Photographer Trevor Raab attended the 2024 MADE Bike Show at Zidell Yards in Portland, Oregon August 23-25. They checked out the hundreds of bicycles and components on display from the world’s best craft and artisan bike builders.

They walked the show, met with builders about their products and techniques, and photographed dozens of bikes. Each day we picked our favorite bikes (featured below). After seeing hundreds of bikes, Phillips, Raab, and Seplavy sat down to pick their favorite for our Editors’ Choice. And for this year’s MADE, show attendees voted and chose the People’s Choice Bike to be featured on an upcoming cover of Bicycling magazine.

Sanitas Style

While Sanitas is a new name, many are familiar with founder John Siegrist’s first brand, Dean Titanium. While Dean continues under new ownership, John moved from Boulder, Colorado down to the wilds of Durango and started Sanitas with his son Dave.

The brand’s all road model, the Style, fits up to 36mm tires. Beyond that, Sanitas crafts the bike to the rider’s needs with stock or no-charge custom geometry. Then Siegrist adds mounts and features as desired.

The Style at MADE was built with the Vistar Powershift “1×16” drivetrain from Classified and TRP. While this drivetrain pairs a 12-speed cassette with Classified’s 2-speed internally geared hub, the electronic brains shift both to provide a sequential 16-speed transmission with greater than 530 percent range.
